Avoncroft Donkeys

"Daisy" and "Matilda"

Getting started!

A friend managed to find "Daisy" and "Petunia II" with relative ease in 1996. I bought another  jenny "Poppy" in 1997 and borrowed a coloured jack, "Percy", to run with the three "girls".

By 1999 donkeys had become a scarce commodity and I had bred only one jenny foal. It became clear that I needed to look further a field for animals to add to my herd.

A trip to Andoversford Horse Fair bore fruit with a coloured jack and three very useful jennies - and a quiet little ride/drive Molly mule for a friend!

"Sweet Pea of Avoncroft", bought at Andoversford, with her 2003 foal "Avoncroft Posy"

My little run of luck continued and within only a few weeks an Irish dealer sourced four more nice jennies - not from Ireland but from the Isle of Wight!

Since then I have bred and retained several nice jenny foals.
